Remove

Remove engine compartment lining.

Drain transmission oil from oil pan.



Automatic transmission fluid and oil filter change

 Do not remove oil pan.

Remove the heat shield (5).

 To do this, undo bolt.

Detach upper parts of double clamps of oil lines (6, 7) from transmission and from oil pan.

 To do so, remove each bolt from each upper section.

Remove rear engine crossmember.

Detach oil lines (6, 7, 8).


Do not kink or bend the oil lines (6, 7, 8).
Leaks and damage may occur otherwise.

 Collect transmission oil which runs out in a suitable container.

Flushing

Fill reservoir (3) of hand pump (2) with transmission oil.



Attach hand pump (2) with pressure connection to container (3).

Fit suitable plastic hose on connection fitting (1).

 Secure plastic hose to connection fitting (1) using clamp, if necessary.

Attach connector (4) to oil line (6).

Flush oil lines (6, 7, 8) and oil cooler with transmission oil.

 To do so, operate hand pump (2). In the event of severe contamination, change the transmission oil several times. Collect transmission oil which flows out in a container. Ensure that the transmission oil flows freely.

Install

Attach oil line (8).

Do not kink or bend the oil line (8).
Leaks and damage may occur otherwise.

 Replace seal.

Attach oil lines (6, 7).



 Install new seals.

Attach upper parts of double clamps of oil lines (6, 7) to transmission and to oil pan.

Install the heat shield (5).

 Installation: The heat shield (5) must be positioned under the leaf spring.

Correct transmission oil level.

Otherwise, the transmission may be damaged.



 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
