Remove/install

Open hood.

Clean rear transmission cover (1) and its surroundings thoroughly.

Assembly cleaner

Unscrew screws (2 to 12).

 Installation: Tightening in numerical sequence.

 Commercially available devices/tools
Plug insertTX30, hexagon drive
Torque wrench with inner hexagon socket

 Bolt, cap to automatic transmission

Remove rear transmission cover (1).


Dirt must not be allowed to find its way into the automatic transmission.
Otherwise damage will occur in the automatic transmission.

 Clean rear transmission cover (1) with dust-free and lint-free cloth.

 Collect escaping oil using a suitable rag.

Remove seal (13) from automatic transmission housing.


Dirt must not be allowed to find its way into the automatic transmission.
Otherwise damage will occur in the automatic transmission.

 Clean sealing surfaces and oil ducts of automatic transmission housing with dust-free and lint-free cloth.

 Collect escaping oil using a suitable rag.

 Installation: Replace seal (13).

Install in the reverse order.



Check

Check oil level in automatic transmission.

If the oil level is not correct.



Correct oil level.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Check for leak tightness when engine is running.
