1 Measure depth (C) from the joint face of front transmission cover to the turned groove using a depth gauge.

2 Preload outer bearing race using pressure device.

Rotate the transmission at the same time so that the correct seating of the tapered roller bearing is retained.

3 Measure distance (D) from the end face of the outer bearing race to the joint face of the transmission housing.

4 Determine thickness of shims required for the adjustment.

Shims are available in thickness of 0.05 mm, 0.07 mm, 0.1 mm, 0.2 mm and 0.3 mm.

Calculation example:

Dimension”C” 2.28 mm

Dimension”D” 1.83 mm

Difference 0.45 mm

Shim 0.45 mm
