Risk of poisoning from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury from skin and eye contact with brake fluid

Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.

Remove/install

1

Extract brake fluid from brake fluid expansion reservoir (2).

 Commercially available devices/tools
Extraction bellows

Release pedal bracket for clutch pedal.

 The hydraulic line (1) must be accessible.

Remove hydraulic line (1) from clutch master cylinder (3).

 To do so, open safety clips and detach hydraulic line (1) from clutch master cylinder (3). Collect escaping brake fluid. Plug openings.

Remove lower engine compartment lining.

 Installation: Only install lower engine compartment paneling again after the leak test.

Detach hydraulic line (1) from longitudinal member.

 To do so, release the retaining clip (4) and unclip the hydraulic line (1).

 Installation: Check retaining clip (4), replace if necessary.

Disconnect hydraulic line (1) from central clutch release bearing (5).

 To do so, remove retainer. Collect escaping brake fluid. Plug openings.

 Record plug

Remove hydraulic line (1).

 Installation: Ensure correct installation position.

Install in the reverse order.

Check

Check clutch operation for leak tightness.

 Visual inspection only.
