Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove/install

Detach ground line of on-board electrical system battery.

Remove left engine carrier.

Unscrew nuts (1, 2).

 Nut, electrical line to starter

Remove screw/bolts (3).

 Bolt, starter to crankcase

Remove starter (4).



Check

Check ring gear at flywheel for damage and wear.

Engine 642 in model 907 with transmission 711.6

 To do this, turn engine at belt pulley in the direction of engine rotation.

 Socket wrench bit

Depending on the findings,



Replace flywheel.

Remove/install a flywheel

Check ring gear at drive plate for damage and wear.

 To do this, turn engine at belt pulley in the direction of engine rotation.

 Socket wrench bit

Replace drive plate.

Remove/install drive plate

Check starter drive pinion.

Depending on the findings,

replace starter (4).

Install in the reverse order.
