Remove/install

Remove heat shield of the exhaust system.

Remove air intake line upstream of exhaust gas turbocharger (8).

 Installation: Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.

Open clamp (3) and remove hose (4) from the low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation valve (1).

 Installation: Replace clamp (3).

 Pliers for click clamps

Seal openings with suitable stop plug.

 Record plug

Release and disconnect electrical connector(7).

Release and disconnect electrical connector (11).

Open clamp (5) and remove hose (6) from the low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation valve (1).

 Installation: Install new hose (6) and clamp (5).

Remove screws (2).

 Bolt, low pressure exhaust gas recirculation valve to low pressure exhaust gas recirculation cooler

Remove low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation valve (1).

 Installation: Replace sealing ring (10).

Seal connections with suitable protective covers.

 Set of protective covers

Remove temperature sensor (9).

For replacing the low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation valve (1).

 Installation: Replace sealing ring.

Clean

Clean sealing surface on the housing of the low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation valve (1).

If the low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation valve (1) is reused.

Install in the reverse order.

Read out and clear fault memory with diagnostic device.

Perform teach-in routine for the low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation valve (1) with the diagnostic device.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and check engine in the area of the low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation valve (1) for leak tightness.
