1 | Remove engine compartment cover | ||
2 | Disconnect hose (1) on air intake duct (2) | ||
3.1 | Remove exhaust system | Vehicles without code K13, diesel particulate filter. | |
3.2 | Remove diesel particulate filter | Vehicles with code K13, diesel particulate filter. | |
4 | Unclip wiring harness (3) and ground strap for engine (4) from bracket (5) | ||
5 | Remove air intake duct (2) | ||
6 | Unscrew bolts (6) of oil drain line (7) at turbocharger (8) | ||
7 | Remove sealing ring and pull oil drain line (7) out of molded hose on crankcase | Installation: Replace sealing ring. | |
8 | Loosen clamp (9) on turbocharger air intake duct (10) | Do not detach turbocharger air intake duct (10) on turbocharger (8). | |
9 | Unscrew bolts (11) on mixing chamber (12) and bolts (14) on turbocharger (8) | The exhaust gas recirculation pipe (13) must be checked for leaks before removal. | |
The exhaust gas recirculation pipe (13) should be replaced if any leaks are found, otherwise it may cause a fire. | |||
10 | Remove exhaust gas recirculation pipe (13) and seals | For model 450.3/4 with code L27, Canada and model 450.3/4 with code K13, diesel particulate filter, the water-cooled exhaust gas recirculation pipe (13) must not be removed from both coolant hoses. | |
Replace gaskets. | |||
11 | Unscrew bolt (15) on oil line (16) on turbocharger (8) and remove sealing rings | Installation: Replace sealing rings. | |
12 | Unscrew nuts (18) and remove turbocharger (8) and seal | Replace nuts (18) and seal. | |

13 | Install turbocharger (8) with seal and tighten nuts (18) | Clean sealing surfaces and replace gasket. | |
Observe tightening sequence of nuts (18). See: | |||

14 | Insert oil line (16) and tighten bolts (17) on crankcase | Install new sealing rings. | |

15 | Tighten up oil line (16) with bolt (15) on turbocharger (8) | Install new sealing rings. | |

16 | First loosen bolt (19) and then bolts (20) on mixing chamber (12) | ||
17 | Insert exhaust gas recirculation pipe (13) | The seals on the exhaust gas recirculation pipe (13) must be replaced. | |
18 | Screw in bolts (11) on mixing chamber (12) and bolts (14) on turbocharger (8) down to the support | Do not tighten bolts (11) and bolts (14). | |
Check for tension free assembly of exhaust gas recirculation pipe (13). | |||
19 | Tighten bolts (11) on mixing chamber (12) | | |
20 | Tighten bolts (14) on turbocharger (8) | | |
21 | First tighten bolt (19) and then bolts (20) | | |
22 | Place air intake duct (10) on turbocharger (8) and tighten the clamp (9) | ||
23 | Connect oil drain line (7) to molded hose on crankcase and tighten bolts (6) for oil drain line (7) at turbocharger (8) | Install new gasket. | |

24 | Install air intake duct (2) | Replace seal on air intake duct (2). | |
Ensure that turbocharger gasket (8) is seated correctly. | |||
25 | Clip wiring harness (3) and engine ground strap (4) into bracket (5) | ||
