Remove air filter housing (1).

Disconnect electrical connector (3) at the hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5)

Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge

Release notch (4, 5) of hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5) on intake manifold

Do not use force as the notches (4, 5) may break off! If the notches (4, 5) break off the complete hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5) must be replaced.

Pull notches (4, 5) outwards until they cannot engage in the intake manifold again

Press back retaining clamp (6) and remove hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5) upwards

Do not use force as the notches (4, 5) may break off! If the notches (4, 5) break off the complete hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5) must be replaced.

In the process do not damage the guard net (7), it cannot be replaced separately

Checking

Check seal (8) between air duct housing (9) and the hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5)

Check seal (8) for damage; replace if necessary.

Check notches (4, 5)

If notches (4, 5) are damaged, then the complete hot film MAF sensor (B2/5) must be replaced.

Install in the reverse order

Read out fault memory and erase if necessary

Stored faults which can result from electrical lines being disconnected or from simulation have to be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work.

Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory
