Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Raise vehicle.

Remove heat shield (1).

 Installation: Check spring washers (2) for damage.

If spring washers (2) are damaged:



replace damaged spring washers (2).

Disconnect electrical connector (3).

Remove control unit (4).

 For this purpose unscrew nuts.

Remove soot particulate sensor (5) with control unit (4).

Note on calculation of tightening torque when using insertion or socket tools with various effective lengths

 The soot particulate sensor (5) and control unit (4) form a single unit.

 Installation: Apply heat-resistant lubricating paste to thread of soot particulate sensor (5).

Clean

Clean sealing surfaces and thread for soot particulate sensor (5) on SCR catalytic converter.

Install in the reverse order

Read out fault memory with diagnostic device.

If soot particulate sensor (5) is being replaced.



Connect/disconnect diagnostic unit

If existing faults are shown:



Erase the fault memory.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
