Clamp in camshaft (3) on the truncations (arrows) in the vise.

 Use protective jaws and carefully clamp in camshaft (3).
Otherwise, the camshaft (3) may be damaged.

Remove screw/bolt (1) and remove camshaft sprocket (2).

Remove camshaft (3) from vise.

Only if replacing the camshaft (3).

Place camshaft sprocket (2) on the camshaft (3) and only screw in screw/bolt (1) until the camshaft sprocket (2) can still be turned on the camshaft (3).

 If necessary, perform operation steps 1 to 4 for the camshaft sprocket (2) of the second camshaft (3) in the same way.

Remove camshafts (3) from vise.

Insert camshaft sprockets (2) in the timing chain (7) and insert camshafts (3) into the cylinder head (6) in such a way that the  hold-down tool (5) can be placed and bolted down.

 The markings (tips) on the camshafts (3) in the area of  the hold-down tool (5) must point upwards.

Put all camshaft bearing caps (4) in place and tighten their screw/bolts finger-tight step by step.

 Take note of installation position of camshaft bearing caps (4).

 Put hold-down tool (5) in place on the camshafts (3).

 To do this turn camshafts (3) if necessary.

Screw chain tensioner (9) with sealing ring (8) into the cylinder head.

Only screw on screw/bolts (1) for camshaft sprockets (2) until the camshaft sprocket (2) can no longer be turned on the camshafts.

Remove chain tensioner (9) with sealing ring (8).

 Remove hold-down tool (5).

Remove screw/bolts for camshaft bearing cap (4) step by step and remove camshaft bearing cap (4).

Remove timing chain (7) from camshaft sprockets (2) and lift camshafts (3) out of the cylinder head (6).

 Secure timing chain (7) against falling down. Remove timing chain chamber.

Clamp in camshaft (3) on the truncations (arrows) in the vise.

 Use protective jaws and carefully clamp in camshaft (3).
Otherwise, the camshaft (3) may be damaged.

Mark camshaft (3) relative to camshaft sprocket (2).

Tighten bolt (1)   .

Check marking of the camshaft (3) relative to camshaft sprocket (2).

 If the marking no longer matches the camshaft sprocket (2) must be released again and the attachment repeated.

Remove camshaft (3) from vise.

 If necessary perform operation steps 15 to 19 for the camshaft sprocket (2) of the second camshaft (3) in an analogue fashion.
