Take off camshaft housing (2) at cylinder head

Installation: Ensure fitting sleeves (3) are seated properly.

Remove compensating elements


Do not use magnets.
The compensating element slide surfaces could be magnetized otherwise. This can cause minute iron chips to accumulate, which can damage the compensating elements and the cams of the camshafts (1).

Installation: Lubricate compensating elements. Compensating elements that have not been replaced must be reinstalled in the same position.

Check

Check the camshaft case (2) and the contact surfaces of the camshafts (1) for damage

If the surface of the basic bore or the contact surfaces of the camshafts (1) is damaged, replace the camshaft case (2) or the camshafts (1).

Install in the reverse order
