Mark the scale of the measuring chain tensioner (1) for better legibility at 82 mm and at 84 mm with a colored pencil

Install the measuring chain tensioner (1)


Install the measuring chain tensioner (1) without seal.
Otherwise a wrongly measurement value will be determined.

Turn engine on crankshaft in direction of engine rotation and, in doing so, read off the greatest indicator value on measuring chain tensioner (1)

 The greatest indicator value is recognized at the TDC. Use aid of helper.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
