Remove/install chain tensioner

Remove/Install

Remove heat shield above turbocharger

Detach retaining clamp (4) of oil dipstick guide tube (5)

Detach coolant pipe (3) at cylinder head

Do not detach coolant hoses.

Unbolt chain tensioner (1) from timing case cover

Slightly press oil dipstick guide tube (5) to the side.

For easy disassembly of the chain tensioner (1) twist the engine on the crankshaft a little in clockwise direction, this loosens the timing chain in the area of the chain tensioner (1).

Installation: Install new sealing ring (2).

Install in the reverse order

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

Inspect for oil leaks

Run engine until warm, switch off and inspect for leaks.
