Remove/install retaining lock for crankshaft/ring gear

Installing, removing

Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.

Lift/jack up vehicle

Remove underride guard

 Aid of helper required.

Unscrew nuts (1) and remove screw/bolts from transmission bell



Remove cover (2) from crankcase



Checking

Check splines of ring gear for drive plate

 Check splines for wear and damage by rotating engine at the center bolt for crankshaft in its direction of rotation. Replace clutch plate if necessary:


Remove/install clutch plate

Insert retaining lock (01) into access opening

 If required, rotate engine further at center bolt for crankshaft in engine's direction of rotation until the retaining lock (01) snaps into place.


