Remove/install radial shaft sealing ring on crankshaft

Removing

Remove flywheel

Using a suitable tool, pry radial shaft sealing ring (1) out of crankcase (2)

 Do not damage interference fit (arrows) in crankcase (2).



Install

Clean and check installation location of radial shaft sealing ring (1)

 The sealing surfaces must be absolutely clean and free of grease.

Screw bolt (3) into crankshaft (4)



Lead transport/assembly sleeve (5) with radial shaft sealing ring (1) over the bolts (3) and fix in place with nuts (6)

 The radial shaft sealing ring (1) must be installed dry. The chamfer on the transport/ assembly sleeve (5) must cover the chamfer on the crankshaft (4).



Position assembly disc (7) and pull-in sleeve contained in the installation aid set on the radial shaft sealing ring (1)

 The pull-in sleeve must sit exactly centered on the radial shaft sealing ring (1).



Position flywheel on bolt (3) and apply nuts contained in the installation aid evenly by hand and tighten in a number of stages each time through 90°

 Excessively high tightening will spread the transport/assembly sleeve (5) and damage the radial shaft sealing ring (1). The assembly disc (7) can jam on the transport/assembly sleeve (5).

 The radial shaft sealing ring (1) must seal flush to the crankcase (2) over its whole circumference.



Unscrew nuts and remove flywheel



Remove pull-in sleeve as well as assembly disc (7) and unscrew nuts (6)



Remove transport/assembly sleeve (5) and remove bolt (3)



Install flywheel
