Remove

Remove vibration damper (2).

Pry out radial shaft sealing ring (3) with a suitable tool out of the timing case cover.


Do not damage crankshaft (4) and timing case cover and use a clean rag as the support for pushing out.
Leaks can occur otherwise.



Check

3

Check contact surface of radial shaft sealing ring (3) at hub of vibration damper (2) for score marks and galling.

If there is a problem:



Replace vibration damper (2).

Install

4

Coat new radial shaft sealing ring (3) with lubricant and install.

Install vibration damper (2).

 Installation: Only install front and center lower engine compartment lining after leak test.



Check

Check engine oil level in multifunction display, correct if necessary.



Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run; in this connection, check engine in area of vibration damper (2) for leaks.
