Remove/install

Remove center bottom engine compartment lining.

 Installation: Install center bottom engine compartment lining only after the leak test.

Release and disconnect electrical connector from the engine oil fill level sensor (B40/6).

Remove drain screw from oil pan bottom section (1) and capture engine oil in a suitable container.

Remove screws (2) of the oil pan bottom section (1) contrary to the numerical sequence.

Release oil pan bottom section (1) from the oil pan top section and remove downward.

Do not drive any tools between the oil pan bottom section (1) and the oil pan top section to loosen them. If necessary, heat the oil pan bottom section (1) in the area of the sealing surfaces using a heat gun.
Otherwise, damage to the sealing surfaces can occur.

 Installation: Apply sealant to sealing surface of oil pan bottom section (1) and, in doing so, observe notes on sealant path on the oil pan.

When replacing the oil pan bottom section (1).

Clean

Clean sealing surfaces on the oil pan top section and on the oil pan bottom section (1).

Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
Sealing surfaces will otherwise be damaged.

Check and correct engine oil level.


