Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Release rear drive module

Disconnect connectors (1)

Remove locking plate (2) for brake hose (3) to brake lines (4)

Disconnect brake hoses (3) from brake lines (4)

 Collect brake fluid which runs out in a suitable container.

 Installation: Do not mix up brake hoses (3) and brake lines (4).



Disconnect connectors (6) for engine wiring harness

Detach the ground strap (5) at the rear plate

Disconnect connector (7) for engine wiring harness

Disconnect connector (8) to electrical air pump (M33)

Disconnect hose (9) at electrical air pump (M33)

Drain coolant

Remove coolant hoses (10) on engine and on coolant expansion reservoir

 Installation: Do not interchange the coolant hoses (10).

Detach compressor poly-V belt

Remove the alternator cover

Disconnect electrical connections at alternator



Detach vacuum lines (11) at engine

 Danger!

Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel and risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel

No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Only pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Disconnect fuel lines (12) at engine

Lower vehicle, support rear wheel drive module on rear axle center bearing and remove lowering bolt



Raise vehicle

Lead out rear wheel drive module under the vehicle

Install in the reverse order
