Service Information: Notes on replacing the Audio/Video Controller (N66/3)

 Moving images could occur on COMAND displays in the Super User Mode (SUM) caused by a faulty variant coding in the audio/video controller control unit (AVC).

The following devices are affected:

 AVC ECE A 240 820 87 26

(as of serial number AL 6313 409 01871 are OK)

 AVC USA A 240 820 89 26

(as of serial number AL 6313 409 1801 are OK)

 AVC Japan A 240 820 56 26

(according to the manufacturer all AVCs have already been tested)

After replacing the audio/video controller (N66/3), the TV parameters and the radio parameters (DVD changer only) must be checked for correct setting and corrected if necessary when performing the automatic or manual initial startup.

Correct coding of the TV parameters and the radio parameters:

Part number: ECE AVC A 240 820 87 26

TV parameter: "Vehicle IN MOTION"

(max. walking pace)

Radio parameter: DVD changer not installed

 These codes are valid for ECE, ROW except (GB, Australia and Hongkong). GB and Australia must be coded to "Parking brake released". The code for Hongkong must be set to "ALWAYS ACTIVE".

Radio parameter: DVD changer not installed

 These codes are valid for USA (except Canada).

Canada is coded with "Vehicle IN MOTION".

Part number: Japan AVC A 240 820 56 26

TV parameter: "Parking brake released"

Radio parameter: DVD changer not installed

 These codes are valid for Japan.

 The other radio parameters are not affected because they are identical with the previous AVC and therefore have already been set correctly by the manufacturer.
