Notes on repairing the stationary heater
1.1 | Remove front section from noise encapsulation | Model 202.1
1.2 | Remove lower engine compartment paneling | Model 202.### (except 202.1)
2 | Remove right cover of wheel well fender liner
Warning | Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
3 | Release pressure in coolant circuit | To do so, turn cap of coolant expansion reservoir to detent position 1.
| Check | ||
4 | If heater (A6) a Thermo Top C? | If yes: Heater is not same as that shown in figure; continue with
| |||
Remove/install heater unit
5 | Remove air filter | ||
6 | Pull couplings (9, 10) of electrical connection line
7 | Disconnect coolant feed line (4) and drain off coolant | Collect escaping coolant in a clean vessel and, after installation, pour back into coolant expansion reservoir.
Clamp | |||
8 | Loosen screw (17), unhook clamping tab (18) and pull heater (A6) out of holder (11) | Heater is no longer required.
9 | Disconnect coolant outlet line (3) | Collect escaping coolant in a clean vessel and, after installation, pour back into coolant expansion reservoir.
10 | Disconnect fuel feed line (7) | Collect escaping fuel.
11 | Remove heater holder (11) | A nut is underneath the lamp unit. Heater holder is no longer required.
12 | Detach mount of pipe system (2) and remove pipe system (1) from longitudinal member | Pipe system is no longer required.
13 | Remove coolant hoses between pipe systems | Hoses are no longer required.
| Install | ||
14 | Prepare heater for installation
Prepare vehicle for conversion and install Thermo Top C heater.
Model 202 up to 5/31/97 | |||
15 | Bleed coolant circuit after installation of heater
Check | |||
16 | Check fuse assignment of heater (A6) on left in engine compartment
| |||
17 | Check cooling system for leaktightness |
| |
18 | Start up stationary heater
| |||
If the heater (A6) switches off automatically before reaching its operating temperature and cannot then be restarted, a fault interlock is present
(continue with). | |||
