Remove/install

Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2  m).

Remove engine compartment lining.

Model 470 except code Y1J (underbody protection)

 Remove only rear engine compartment lining.

Remove underbody protection.

Model 470 with code Y1J (underbody protection)

 Remove only rear and center technical underbody protection.

Remove right front wheel.

Remove right front fender liner.

Remove temperature sensors (1, 2, 3, 11) from the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit.

Note on calculation of tightening torque when using insertion or socket tools with various effective lengths

 For this purpose, remove nuts. Plug openings.

 Installation: Apply heat-resistant lubricating paste to the nuts of the temperature sensors (1, 2, 3, 11).

Remove electrical wiring harnesses (4, 5, 6, 12) to the retaining clips (7).

Release and disconnect electrical connector (8).

Remove sensor unit (10) with temperature sensors (1, 2, 3, 11).

 To do this, remove screw/bolts (9) .

 The sensor unit (10) and temperature sensors (1, 2, 3, 11) form a unit.

Install in the reverse order.



Check

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Check exhaust system for leaks with the engine running.
