Remove

Remove wheel

Release parking brake

 The reservoir pressure of the service brake must be at least 8 bar.

Check adjuster

Remove spring cotter (5) and washer (4).

Remove pin (6).

 Pre-tension retaining bracket (3) for this step.

Remove retaining bracket (3).

Turn adjuster with box wrench (2) until brake pads (7) can be removed.

 Turn counterclockwise. Only use a box wrench (2) for turning. The overload clutch in the adjuster produces a clicking noise when turning. The torque occurring when turning must not exceed 30 Nm.

A removable adapter on the adjuster incorporates a predetermined fracture point designed to protect the adjuster; this shears off the adapter when the permissible torque is exceeded. If the adapter shears, determine and rectify the cause.

Remove brake pads (7).



Clean brake recess and guide surfaces of brake pads (7).

 Contamination and corrosion cause the brake pads (7) to seize and affect the function of the brakes.

Check run-flat support areas for brake pads (7) on brake carrier.

 The brake carrier with brake caliper (8) must be replaced if the run-flat support areas have grooves deeper than 0.5 mm.

Install

Adjust clearance of disk brake

Install and pre-tension retaining bracket (3) and install pin (6).

 The collar of the pin (6) must point upwards.

Install washer (4) and spring cotter (5).
