1 Mount spreader (03) on rear axle housing and tighten.
2 Insert the differential with the appropriately calculated shims into the rear axle housing.
Install the thinner shim on the ring gear side (arrow) so that the gear backlash is achieved in each case.

3 Release tension on spreader (03) and detach.
4 Insert bearing bracket (16) and tighten bolts by hand.
Observe markings on bearing brackets (16).

5 Attach dial indicator holder (02) with dial indicator (01) to rear axle housing and check gear backlash.
The gear backlash can be changed by installing shims.
If a thinner shim is installed on one side, a shim which is thicker by the same amount must be installed on the opposite side so that the preload of the axle housing bearing is retained.
6 Compare measured play with the specified value, if necessary install different shims.
7 Tighten retaining bolts for bearing bracket .
