Adjusting
1 Tighten with the square tang the threaded rings until the bearings turn without clearance or pre-load.
The drive gear must still rotate with a slight clearance between teeth.
2 Firmly tighten the threaded rings and simultaneously rotate the bevel gear while using a plastic head hammer to apply a few vigorous strikes on bearing caps and side of the bevel gear
3 Loosen the threaded rings and then tighten them again until they touch softly
In this position the threaded rings must have no clearance or pre-load
B35.30-0108-01
4 Secure on the housing the support with magnetic block and the dial gauge, guiding the feeler on the pressure flank of one of the bevel gear teeth, with a little pre-load.
5 Perform the drive gear and pinion assembly tooth backlash measurement in four different places offset at 900 and determine the smallest backlash point.
6 Maintaining the smallest backlash, move the bevel gear with differential assembly axially until the lowest specified clearance is obtained
Loosen one threaded ring and tighten the other by the same measure to maintain the bearing adjustment.

7 Remove the dial gauge holder and the dial gauge and tighten the bearing cap bolts of the side opposite the bevel gear teeth.
B35.30-0110-01
8 Secure the adjustment device to the already tightened bearing cap, with its flag parallel to the bevel gear.
9 Secure the support with magnetic block and the dial gauge, supporting the feeler in a straight angle on the flag, adjusted to “0” and with a little pre-load.
10 Rotate the bevel gear continuously while tightening the threaded ring on the bevel gear tooth side, until the initial pre-load is obtained on the dial gauge
For used bearings the lower limit should be maintained and for new ones the upper limit
B35.30-0111-01
11 Tighten the bearing cap bolts on the bevel gear tooth side.
12 Rotate the bevel gear and check the final specified pre-load
13 Check the bevel gear and pinion tooth backlash
If clearance is not within the specified values, repeat the adjustment procedure.
