Risk of explosion due to escaping combustible gas or overheating of gas cylinders.Risk of injury caused by burns to skin and eyes. Risk of frostbite to body parts caused by escaping gas and by touching components near the valves when emptying gas cylinders. Risk of poisoning or suffocation caused by inhaling gas.

Remove any sources of ignition.
Protective clothing, safety gloves and safety glasses must always be worn.
Ensure that the work area is adequately ventilated.
When working on vehicles at ambient temperatures over 60 °C, all gas cylinders must be removed.

Remove

Swivel tensioner pulley (1) with breaker bar and socket wrench socket (2) upwards in swivel direction (A) and hold.


Only swivel clamping device against the spring tension of the tensioner pulley (1).
Screw can otherwise detach.

Remove poly-V-belt (3) from tensioner pulley (1).

Swing back tensioning device and remove poly-V-belt (3).


Do not kink poly-V-belt (3).
This will otherwise be damaged.



Check

Check condition of the poly-V-belt (3).



If damage is determined or wear lies outside the tolerance,



Replace poly-V-belt (3).

Check vibration damper, belt pulleys of alternator and coolant pump as well as tensioning device with tensioner pulley (1).

If damage is determined or wear lies outside the tolerance,



Replace damaged or worn parts.

Install

Mount poly-V-belt (3) on belt pulleys and vibration dampers.

 Do not yet mount poly-V-belt (3) on tensioner pulley (1).
Observe the routing diagram.



Mount poly-V-belt (3) on tensioner pulley (1) and swing back tensioning device, remove breaker bar and socket wrench socket (2).

Check that poly-V-belt (3) is correctly seated.

If not correctly seated,



align poly-V-belt (3).
