1 Attach dial indicator (1) to dial indicator holder (2) and place with pretension on the face of the cylinder head (3)
2 Set scale to "0".
3 Push dial indicator holder (2) with dial indicator (1) until the dial indicator (1) sits on the exhaust valve (4).
4 Read off measurement on the scale.
5 Perform measuring procedure on the remaining intake valves and exhaust valves (4) in the same way.

6 Place dial indicator holder (5) on the face of the cylinder head (3) and attach dial indicator (1) with extension (8) in such a way on dial indicator holder (5) that the tracer pin on the dial indicator (1) sits on the shaft end of the intake valve (7).
Place dial indicator (1) place with pretension on the shaft end of the intake valve (7).
7 Set scale on the dial indicator (1) to "0".

8 Push dial indicator holder (5) onto the cylinder head (3) until the tracer pin of the dial indicator (1) sits on the shaft end of the intake valve (6).
Pull back the tracer pin on the dial indicator (1) when moving.
9 Read off measured value on dial indicator (1) scale.
The read off measurement is the difference (J) between the intake valves (6, 7). The difference (J) must lie within the permissible tolerance.
10 Perform measuring procedure on the remaining intake valves (6, 7) in the same way.
