Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Remove engine trim panel

Remove camshaft sensor

Set piston for cylinder 1 to ignition top dead center (OT)

 Rotate engine at crankshaft using a suitable  counterholder in direction of engine rotation until marking for a 0° crank angle on the belt pulley/vibration damper (1) coincides with marking on the stay (2).

Checking

Check setting of the intake camshaft

 The marking (A) must be aligned with marking (B). If the marking is not visible, turn the crankshaft another revolution and check again.

The basic position of the camshafts must be set up if the marking (A) is not aligned with marking (B).

 The edge (A) must be aligned with marking (B).
