1 | Remove oil filter element and check slats of oil filter element from outside for metal abrasion and swollen condition. | Only in case of extreme wear or damage to the engine components. | |
If severe contamination is present or the oil filter element is swollen: | |||

Replace engine oil and oil filter element. | |||

2 | Check heat exchanger for contamination as a result of metal abrasion. | Only if there is metal abrasion on the oil filter element segments or in the oil circuit. | |
If contamination is present: | |||

Replace the heat exchanger. | |||
3 | Remove oil spray nozzles and check for damage. | Only if one or more pistons were damaged. | |
If damage is present: | |||

Replace oil spray nozzles. | |||
4 | Remove oil pump, disassemble and visually check for wear and damage. | Only when an increased amount of metal abrasion is found on oil filter element lamella. | |
If damage is present: | |||

Replace oil pump. | |||
5 | Check engine oil and oil filter element for contamination. | Only if there is metal abrasion or a swollen oil filter element through coolant in the engine oil circuit. | |
If contamination is present: | |||
