1 Measure vertical clearance between compression ring and groove in piston (1) with a feeler gauge (2) for the compression ring concerned; replace compression ring or piston (1) if necessary.
The vertical clearance of the oil scraper ring cannot be measured because of its three-part structure. The oil scraper ring must also be replaced when the compression rings are replaced.
