1 | Drain engine oil or extract | ||
2 | Remove viscous fan clutch (26) | ||
3 | Unscrew coolant expansion reservoir (8) at firewall | ||
4 | Unscrew bolts (9) of front engine mounts at vehicle frame | | |
5 | Raise engine at front lifting eye | | |
6 | Pull out the oil level sensor plug (S43) | ||
7 | Unbolt oil pan (56), lower | Installation: Pay attention to different bolt lengths. Align oil pan (56) to rear contact surface on transmission. If the oil pan is not aligned to the transmission, this can result in noise and vibration problems. | |

8 | Remove oil pan (56) | ||
9 | Clean sealing surfaces, replace oil pan gasket (56a) | If necessary, secure the oil pan gasket (56a) to the oil pan using Loctite sealant 5970at various points. | |
10 | Install in the reverse order | ||

Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the running engine | Secure vehicle to prevent it moving off. Always wear appropriate work clothing when working on the vehicle. | |
11 | Run engine and inspect for leaks |
