1 Operate parking brake , turn ignition lock into driving position.
The following indicator lamps, where installed, must be on:
Electronic Diesel Control (EDC) (1)
antilock brake system (ABS) motor vehicle (2)
engine oil pressure (3)
engine oil level (4)
air filter maintenance indicator (5)
brake fluid, brake lining wear, vacuum, parking brake reservoir pressure (6)
battery charge (7)
bulb failure indicator light (8)
flame starting system (9)
compressed-air reservoir pressure (10)
engine oil temperature (11)
antilock brake system (ABS) trailer (12)
parking brake (13)
engine brake control (18)

After a few seconds the following indicator lamps go out:
Antilock brake system (ABS) motor vehicle (2)
air filter maintenance indicator (5)
bulb failure indicator light (8)
engine oil temperature (11)
antilock brake system (ABS) trailer (12)
engine brake control (18)
The flame starting system indicator lamp (9) goes out when the required startup temperature is reached.
If a system error occurs the relevant indicator lamp comes on and stays on or the error is displayed in the display (on-board computer).

2 Start engine.
All indicator lamp except the parking brake (13) must go out.
3 Check all other indicator lamps.
Switch the relevant mode switches on and off or switch the relevant equipment on and off.

Turn signal lights on motor vehicle (14)
hazard warning system
high beams (15),
power take-off (16)
rear-axle differential lock (17)
engine brake indicator lamp (18)
retarder (19)
open passenger door (20)
cargo area illumination (21)
frequent-stop brake (22)
electric step (23)
cargo liftgate (24)
differential lock, interaxle differential lock (25)
4 Switch off engine.
