Danger | Risk of explosion caused by welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant. | Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been drained.

Notes on handling refrigerant R134a
1 | Open liftgate, fold down bumper cover
2 | Remove poly-V-belt of air conditioning refrigerant compressor
3 | Detach tensioner pulley bracket (1) from carrier (2) and refrigerant compressor (3)
4 | Disconnect magnetic clutch electrical connector (4) and expose electrical line
5 | Disconnect high-pressure switch electrical connector (5) and low-pressure switch electrical connector (6) | Depending on the version involved, the electrical high-pressure switch and the electrical low-pressure switch are located in the area of the cap (7).
6 | Unscrew caps (7, 8) over stopcocks (arrows)
7 | Drain air conditioning system
8 | Close stopcocks (arrows) of low-pressure and high-pressure connections (9, 10) | The stopcocks (arrows) are located under the caps (7, 8).
Closing the stopcocks (arrows) ensures that moisture does not enter the cooling circuit.
9 | Detach low-pressure connection (9) from refrigerant compressor (3) | Installation: Replace seal.
