Detach compressed-air line (13)

 Only on rear axle model 770.001 with differential lock

Remove bolts (1) and pull out both rear axle shafts (2)

 Only pull out the rear axle shafts (2) approx. 170 mm.

Detach propeller shaft (4) from drive flange (7) of rear axle

 Secure propeller shaft to prevent it from falling.

Remove plug (6)

 Only for WS/FSS maintenance system.

Attach removal fixture to differential assembly (9)

Guide bolts for installing differential assembly

Insert differential assembly (9) into axle housing (11)

 Grease four-point support (10) in axle housing.

Clean sealing surfaces on axle housing and on differential assembly and coat with sealing compound.

Insert bolts (8) into free holes around circumference of differential assembly (9).

Remove guide pin from axle housing (11) and detach removal fixture

Bolt differential assembly (9) securely to axle housing (11)



Install rear axle shafts (2) using new bolts (1)

 Clean joint surfaces on the rear wheel hub and axle shaft, then apply sealant.

 Install new bolts (1).
