Put the nut and tighten it

 When tightening the lock nut, turn continuously the wheel hub and with a copper hammer apply some blows to the hub to seat the bearings.

Loosen the nut until you get a detectable small axial play

Install the dial gage support on the wheel hub, put the dial gage and support the feeler on the front face of the stub shaft. Adjust the indicator to zero with a previous tension of 1mm

Axially displace the wheel hub and check the bearing's axial play indicated in the dial gage

 The axial play is obtained by tightening and loosening the nut.

Assemble a toothed lock washer in the collar nut

 Tighten the nut lock bolt.

 Only for axles collar nut - Axles 732.792/797

Assemble the lock ring in the stub shaft groove

 Only for the VL 3 front axle

 In the axles with castle nut, lock it with an adequate cotter pin.
