B. Draining fuel
Pay attention to safety precautions! | |
Filler cap of filler neck | take off, fit on. |
Filler cap (013) | fit on with pressure hose, take off. |
Covers of fuel gauge sensor | take off, fit on. When fitting on, ensure that no electric cables or the fuel return hose are jammed. |
Coupling of fuel gauge sensor | unplug, plug in. |
Screw plug of drain valve (88/1) | unscrew, screw in. Examine O-ring, replace if necessary. When installing, ensure correctly seated. Tightening torque 15 Nm. |
Drain hose (012) with shut-off tap in drain valve |
screw in, unscrew. Open shut-off tap at drain hose (012) The drain hose must be resting on the bottom of the safety vessel in order to avoid static charging. |
If no fuel flows out, | the fuel tank must be briefly pressurized with slight overpressure, approx. 0.15 bar, by a pressure surge: a) by blowing compressed air briefly into the pressure hose cap b) by inserting an air pump (ball pump) into the pressure hose cap (013), pumping two or three times and removing again immediately. Shut-off tap must be open. Pressure in fuel tank must not rise above 0.15 bar (risk of bursting). |
Fuel | drain through drain valve and drain hose into safety vessel. Carefully empty fuel tank so that no fuel remains in the tank (see note). |
Fuel | pour in through filler neck. When re-filling, ensure that no dirt particles get into the tank. |
Leak tightness of all connection points | check with engine running. |
