07-5700 Checking fuel delivery pump
|
A Measuring vacuum of delivery pump
1 Connect tester (10) part no. 617 589 04 21 00 between feedpipe from fuel tank (9) and fuel delivery pump (7).
2 Start engine. After the hose (arrow) is compressed, the pressure gauge in the tester (10) indicates the vacuum of the delivery pump (7); 0.5 to 0.8 bar.
B Measuring pressure of delivery pump and opening pressure of pressure relief valve
1 Connect tester (10) part no. 617 589 04 21 00 between fuel delivery pump (7) or fuel preheater (6) (if fitted) and fuel filter (8).
2 Start engine. The pressure gauge in the tester (10) indicates the opening pressure of the pressure relief valve (4); min. 1.3 bar.
3 After the hose (arrow) is compressed, the pressure gauge in the tester (10) indicates the pressure of the fuel delivery pump (7); >2.0 bar.
C Measuring clear passage of fuel filter
1 Connect tester (10) part no. 617 589 04 21 00 between fuel filter outlet (8) and injection pump (5).
2 Start engine. The pressure gauge in the tester (10) indicates the fuel outlet pressure; min. 1.3 bar.
Note
During all measurements, it is possible to determine whether the diesel fuel flowing through is free of bubbles.
D Testing return flow quantity
Preceding work: Engine warmed up to normal operating temperature. |
|
1 Disconnect fuel return pipe from the fuel sensor and hold in a clean vessel (10 liter can).
2 Start engine and run up to governed speed.
3 Run engine at governed speed for exactly 2 minutes.
4 Switch off engine.
5 Measure return quantity of fuel. Minimum quantity 3 liters.
6 Connect return pipe to the fuel sensor.
