B First adjustment in the vehicle - positioning of bushing with the work piston
C Normal operation position - pressure reduction before the axle stop
Operation
The automatic stroke limiting valve (1) consists of a conventional valve located at the work piston (4) and bolts (2) with sliding bushing (3) located at the lower cover and at the upper part of the steering gear housing. At the first turning with new bolts, the work piston (4) pushed by hydraulic pressure slides until it touches the sliding bushing (3). From there onwards, the piston (4) proceeds until being immobilized by the mechanical stopper of the front axle (5). At this point, the automatic stroke limiting valve (1) becomes automatically adjusted and at all future turns it will open approximately 1° (a) before the mechanical stop (5) of the axle, reverting the hydraulic pressure flow inside the steering gear.
