AS00.19-B-0001-01A | Risk of injury caused by burns to skin and eyes. Risk of poisoning caused by inhaling fumes when working with heat-shrinkable tubing. | Carry out the jobs only in well ventilated ambients. Use glasses with lateral protection and gloves. | Danger! |
Possible risks
Risk of injury
Due to the high temperatures when processing retractile hoses, skin and eye burns may occur.
Risk of poisoning
In the processing of retractile hoses, vapor may emanate that can lead to poisoning symptoms, as cough, headaches, dizziness and nausea. Later-on irritations may arise in the respiratory tracts and eyes.
Protection measures/behavior rules
Carry out the jobs only in well ventilated ambients.
Avoid the overheating of the retractile hose.
In the formation of bubbles, carbonization or other damage signals, immediately stop the process of retraction.
Do not inhale eventually released vapors.
Avoid the contact with the melting material.
Use glasses with lateral protection and gloves.
First aid measures
In skin or eye contact with melting material:
Rinse immediately the affected area for approx. 15 min. with plenty of water.
Treat the affected area as a burn injury. Do not remove fragments of burnt material.
Seek medical help.
When inhaling vapors:
Take the affected person to a ventilated location.
Keep the affected person calm and covered with a blanket.
Seek medical help.
Fire fighting provisions
Appropriate fire extinguishing means
Water mist, polyvalent foam, dry chemical, carbon gas CO2
Fire brigade protection device (compressed air, Oxygen apparatus, chemical elements resistant protection clothes)
