1 Attach a wire to drive pinion housing (1) and form a loop at its end.
A hole in drive pinion housing (1) can be used for attaching the wire.
2 Mount drive pinion on a suitable base in a workshop press and position a suitable sleeve (2) between the inner race of the tapered roller bearing and the press ram (3) of the workshop press.
Perform when a workshop press is available.
3 Exert a pressure of 150.000 N (15 t) on the tapered roller bearing.
Perform when a workshop press is available.
4 Install propeller shaft flange on the drive pinion and tighten nut to the specified torque, .
Perform when a workshop press is not available.
5 Suspend spring balance (4) in the wire loop, pull on the spring balance (4) until the drive pinion housing (1) turns and read off value for the friction torque on the spring balance (4).
6 Detach propeller shaft flange on drive pinion.
Perform when propeller shaft flange was installed on the drive pinion.
