| Disassemble | ||
1 | Remove the gearbox front housing | For Transmission 712.360/361/362
2 | Remove transmission rear housing | For Transmission 712.360/361/362
For Transmission 712.370/371
3 | Withdraw drive shaft from shaft assembly, and fasten main shaft (23) at the flange end in a bench vise | Use protections on vise jaws.
4 | Remove synchronizer ring (3) and tapered roller bearing (1) | For bearing removal use a multipurpose extractor with two claws together with special tool.
| |||
5 | Remove shifting collar (9) and locking ring (2). Then extract synchronizer body (4) | Cover shifting collar with cloth to keep positioners and balls (6 and 7) from being ejected by pressure spring (5) action.
For synchronizer body removal use a multipurpose extractor with two claws together with special tool.
| |||
6 | Remove synchronizer ring (8), 3rd speed gear (10), and needle roller bearing (11)
7 | Withdraw 2nd speed gear (14) together with bushing (12) and washer (13) | For this operation use a multipurpose extractor with two claws together with special tool.
| |||
8 | Remove locking ring (16) and synchronizer ring (17). Turn main shaft (23) around and fasten it at the power input end (drive) | Use protections on vise jaws.
9 | Remove tapered roller bearing (32)
| |||
10 | Remove 5th speed gear (31), split needle roller bearing (30), and synchronizer ring (27)
11 | Remove locking ring (29) and shifting collar (28) | Cover shifting collar with cloth to keep positioners and balls (6 and 7) from being ejected by pressure spring (5) action.
12 | Remove synchronizer body (26), reverse gear (25), and needle roller bearing (24) | For synchronizer body removal use a multipurpose extractor with two claws together with special tool.
| |||
13 | Turn main shaft around again and fasten it at the flange end | Use protections on vise jaws.
14 | Withdraw 1st speed gear (21) | For this operation use a multipurpose extractor with two claws. Together with 1st speed gear the following components are to be removed in one operation: synchronizer body, synchronizer ring, and shifting collar (18, 19, 20).
| Assembly | ||
15 | Check wear limit between synchronizer rings and coupling bodies
Wear limit between synchronizer rings and shifting collars.
16 | Mount needle roller bearing (24) and reverse gear (25) | Lubricate needle roller bearing lightly and mount gear (25) with its cone facing the power output side.
Danger! | Risk of injury by burning | Use adequate protection equipment when handling heated components.
17 | Mount synchronizer body (26) and locking ring (29) | Heat synchronizer body to approx. 120 °C. The surface with a welded ring must be positioned towards the main shaft drive side.
Locking ring must be mounted without any clearance, if possible. if needed, it must be replaced by a thicker ring.
Radial play for locking rings.
18.1 | Mount shifting collar (28) together with pressure springs (5), positioners (6), and balls (7). | The shifting collar has recessed teeth, at 120° intervals, where the balls are to be fitted. Assure correct mounting position of shifting collar.
18.2 | Install synchronizer ring (27) | Make sure the synchronization teeth mesh.
19 | Install split needle roller bearing (30), 5th speed gear (31), and tapered roller bearing (32) | Lightly lubricate split needle roller bearing. Before installation heat tapered roller bearing to a temperature of approx. 120 °C.
20 | Fasten main shaft (23) in a bench vise at the flange end. Mount needle roller bearing (22) and 1st speed gear (21) | Use protections on vise jaws when fastening the main shaft.
Lubricate needle roller bearing lightly and mount 1st speed gear with its cone facing the power input side.
21 | Mount synchronizer ring (19), synchronizer body (18), and then locking ring (16) | Heat synchronizer body to approx. 120 °C and mount it with the inscription side facing the power input side.
Make sure the synchronization teeth mesh.
