Danger! | Risk of accident caused by involuntary movement with engine running. Risk of injury by crushing and burning in case of contact during the start procedure or with engine running | Secure the vehicle against unintentional movement. Use closed and tight-fitting work clothing. Do not touch heated or moving parts.
Danger! | Risk of poisoning by ingestion of brake fluid. Risk of injury by contact with skin and eyes with the brake fluid | Bleed off and store the brake fluid only in the original package. Wear protective clothing and goggles.
Bleed off | |||
1 | Open the front left driver's door and, on the side of the panel, rotate the both latches of the lining with a screwdriver and remove it to access the brake fluid reservoir (1)
| The maximum pressure in the brake fluid reservoir (1) is 3 bar and the bleeding pressure is 1 bar | While bleeding, if the system is under pressure and the bleed valve is closed, the clutch pedal should not be actuated. | |
2 | Remove the lid and fit the bleeding equipment to the brake fluid reservoir | Turn on the bleeding equipment with the respective 1 bar pressure.
3 | Remove the plug on the bleed valve (2) and install a transparent drain hose (3) so that the drained fluid is deposited in a suitable container | The brake fluid should not be reused. Collect the fluid in a suitable container and dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way as per the current standards.
4 | Apply pressure to the system, open the bleed valve (2) at least 45° and bleed the brake fluid until no more air bubbles are seen in the transparent drain hose (3) | During the bleeding operation, make sure that the reservoir content do not reach the “minimum” level: In that case, refill the reservoir up to the "normal" level with the specified brake fluid.
When performing full bleed and brake fluid remains in the reservoir, keep bleeding until the fluid reaches minimum level, in order to put new fluid in the system.
5 | Close the bleed valve (2) and remove the drain hose (3) and the container. Tighten the bleed valve with the required torque and refit the plug
6 | Depressurize and remove the bleeding equipment | Fill up the reservoir up to the "normal" level with the specified brake fluid. Do not put too much fluid, or it will spill into the cabin.
7 | Check the operation of clutch and drive system | In case of faulty operation; perform bleeding once again.
8 | Check the system for leaks |
