In appliances with automatic temperature compensation (ATC) the temperature oscillations of 5 ... 30 ° C are automatically compensated. It is recommended to adjust the refractometer before each test.
1 | Carefully clean the prism (1) and the transparent cover (2) with a lint-free cloth. |
The prism surface should not be touched by hand. |
2 | Place 1 or 2 drops of distilled water on the prism (1) and close the cover (2) with slight pressure. |
The water will be evenly distributed. |
3 | Look through the viewfinder (4) against a light background. |
Scales can be adjusted by turning the viewfinder (4). |
4 | Adjust adjusting screw (3), if necessary, using a screwdriver so that the light/dark limit is aligned with the zero line (water line). |
5 | Carefully remove any residual water from the prism (1) and cover (2). |
