1 | Open the engine compartment | Access to perform the maintenance and repairs varies according to the bodywork type/manufacturer of the bodywork. | |

2 | Open the fuel reservoir cap and close it again | This is necessary to eliminate the excess of pressure from the fuel tank. | |
3 | Clean the fuel prefilter (1) externally | Ensure that no foreign matter gets into the oil filter housing. Under no circumstances clean the filter housing. | |
4 | Replace the fuel filter (2) | ||
5 | Remove the filter elements | If water is detected or if the removed filtering elements are too dirty, this will be indication that the fuel is contaminated, and in this case the new filtering elements will get clogged again in short time. Should this occur, an internal cleaning of the fuel reservoirs will be required. | |
6 | Remove the threaded cap with the fuel prefilter element (1) | Detach the filter element pressing it to the side. | |
Be careful so that foreign bodies do not enter the fuel filter housing, otherwise failure functions and damages can occur. | |||
Install | |||
7 | Replace the sealing ring on the fuel prefilter threaded cover (1) | Grease lightly the sealing ring. | |
8 | Place a new filter element in the fuel prefilter threaded cover (1) | ||
9 | Screw and tighten the fuel prefilter threaded cover (1) with the filter element | Fuel prefilter cover on fuel filter module | |
10 | Bleed the fuel system | Start the engine and let it run in fast idle. The fuel system is bled automatically. | |
11 | Check the leak-tightness of the fuel filter module with the engine running | Only inspection. After stopping the engine. | |
12 | Using the diagnosis equipment, delete the failure "overdue fuel filter change" or "clogged fuel filter" on engine management control unit (MCM) | Only for previous indications on Display. |
