Error messages are triggered by malfunctions or component faults.
Current error messages are shown on the instrument cluster's red display field.
An error message consists of:
the designation of the affected electronic system,
the significance of the error message,
and the fault code made up of fault path and type of fault.
Simultaneous current error messages are displayed alternately at intervals of 5 s.
The significance of the error message provides details on the significance of the existing malfunction.
Significance "0" = slight malfunction
"1" = medium malfunction
"2" = serious malfunction
Slight and medium malfunctions are to be acknowledged, i.e. the error message can be reset by the driver on the instrument cluster.
More significant faults cannot be acknowledged and can only be reset after being rectified by workshop personnel.
