1 | Remove rearview mirror (2). | ||
2 | Unclip covering (1) from retaining collar (6) and detach cable retainer (3) from covering (1) | Carefully unclip covering (1) to avoid breaking the retaining clamps. | |
3 | Disconnect electrical connector (4) | ||
4 | Unclip retaining clamp (5) of rain sensor/light sensor (B38) on the retaining collar (6) (arrows) | ||
5 | Remove rain sensor/light sensor (B38) from retaining collar (6) | ||
| Install | ||
6.1 | Remove protective cap on retaining collar (6) | If the windshield has been replaced. | |
7 | Clean contact surface of rain/light sensor (B38) on windshield | The contact surface for the rain sensor/light sensor (B38) on the windshield must be clean and free of grease. | |
8.1 | Carefully remove protective foil from new rain sensor/light sensor (B38) | When installing a new rain sensor/light sensor (B38). | |
In the event of damage or contamination to the silicone pad on the rain sensor/light sensor lens (B38) it must be replaced. | |||
9 | Insert rain sensor/light sensor (B38) in the retaining collar (6) | The contact surface on the windshield for the rain sensor/light sensor (B38) and the silicone pad on the rain sensor/light sensor lens (B38) must not exhibit any damage or contamination, as this may result in making the rain sensor/light sensor (B38) unusable. | |
10 | Clip retaining clamp (5) of rain sensor/light sensor (B38) into the retaining collar (6) (arrows) | ||
11 | Insert cable retainer (3) into covering (1). | ||
12 | Connect electrical connector (4) | ||
13 | Clip cover (1) into retaining collar (6) | Carefully clip in covering (1) to avoid breaking the retaining clamps. | |
14 | Install inside rearview mirror (2) | ||
15.1 | Select windshield variant | Only when installing another windshield variant. | |
