Preface

This introduction information presents the technical highlights of the A-Class model 177. In particular, it is intended to provide information in the areas of service, maintenance/repair, and Aftersales. The reader should be familiar with the Mercedes-Benz model series and systems already on the market.

The content-related focus of this introduction information lies in the presentation of new and changed major assemblies and systems.

This introductory information is not intended as a basis for repairs or for the diagnosis of technical problems. Further information for this purpose is available in the Workshop Information System (WIS). This is being updated continuously. The information stored there always corresponds to the state of the art of the vehicles.

The introduction information describes the initial information on the A-Class model 177. The content of the introduction information is not subject to the Update Service. Supplements are not envisaged.

Introduction

The A-Class model 177 is a 5-door hatchback with five seats in the compact vehicle segment; it is the successor to the A-Class model 176. It is the first vehicle of the new Mercedes-Benz frontwheel drive platform. The market launch will take place in May 2018.

The focal points of the product concept for the A-Class model 177 are:

 Modern infotainment system with high utility value

 Safety and driver assistance systems

 Improved user-friendliness

 Better all-around visibility

 Clear improvement in access to and utility value of trunk

 Better access in rear

 Enlarged interior widths of shoulder room and elbowroom in rear

 Door trims with stowage options for larger bottles

 Enlarged headroom for front seat passengers
