Connect diagnostic unit.

Use XENTRY Diagnostics version 03/2017 or higher with all available addons. The operation steps must be performed exactly as per XENTRY Diagnostics! Make sure that the vehicle's on-board electrical system battery has sufficient voltage supply (more than 12.5 V) by using a battery charger. If Xentry Diagnostics is already connected to the vehicle, continue with operation step 3.

Perform the special process 1704P46A87 in the power steering control unit (N68).

To do this, select the menu item Control units view  Suspension  ES electric power steering  Adaptations  Teach-in processes  Special process 1704P46A87.

Then follow the user guidance in Xentry Diagnostics.

The special process optimizes adaptation values; the power steering is inoperative in this state. Only after a subsequent software update is the electric power steering operable again!

If two or more instances of control unit programming or SCN coding are carried out during a workshop visit, the operation items 02­4762 and 02­5058 must only be charged once for each workshop order.

Program electric power steering control unit (N68).

To do this, select the menu item Control units view  Suspension  ES electric power steering  Adaptations  Control units update  Update of control unit software.

Then follow the user guidance in Xentry Diagnostics.

If a more up-to-date software cannot be determined, clarify how to proceed further with an XSF ticket.

If two or more instances of control unit programming or SCN coding are carried out during a workshop visit, the operation items 02­4762 and 02­5058 must only be charged once for each workshop order.

Please enter the affected control unit with the code and accounting number in the workshop order manually as per work instructions.
