On vehicles with code 581 Comfort automatic air conditioning, the coolant hose must have sufficient space relative to the longitudinal member (4).

5

Check coolant hose (1) for signs of damage

If coolant hose (1) is routed as shown and there are no chafe marks in area of longitudinal member (4), take no further action. If there are chafe marks in area of longitudinal member (4), continue with step 9.

Remove/install

6

Disconnect coolant line from expansion reservoir (picture showing area of expansion reservoir)

Only if the coolant hose (1) is not routed as shown and there are no chafe marks in area of longitudinal member (4).

7

Correct routing of coolant hose (1)

Loosen clamp (5) and turn coolant hose in direction of arrow until the hose is routed so that it will not chafe in the area of the longitudinal member (4). Ignore the marking.
