Service Information: One-off use of expansion rivet with sealing function

 The expansion rivet with the parts order number A 000 991 59 40 is an expansion rivet with sealing function.

Once removed, this sealing function is no longer provided as the expansion rivet is then permanently deformed (picture 1 and 2) and the openings in the body can no longer be completely sealed.

Critical installation locations are, for example, the rear seal (model 251) (picture 3) and luggage compartment seal (model 221) (picture 4).

 If the expansion rivet is reused, cost-intensive damage to control units and electrical components as a result of water entry are often unavoidable.

The expansion rivet should, therefore, be used once only.
