Center conical group repair (Axle R 390 / RO 390)
The object of this Service Information is to guide the dealer network through the new repair procedures, specifically for rear axles Type R 390 / RO 390 installed on bus chassis and Atego trucks. The respective repair procedures and required special tools are indicated in the following documents.
| Remove and install the differential assembly. | ||
| Remove and install the pinion | ||
| Determine the installation measurement for the pinion | ||
| Remove and install the crown gear with the differential | ||
| Determine the thickness of the compensation washers for the pinion | ||
| Check the friction torque of the pinion bearings | ||
| Adjust tooth flank clearance in the differential assembly | ||
| Determine the installation measurement for the center conical group | ||
| Check for contact marks between crown gear and pinion | ||
| Adjust tapered roller bearing preload |
